Some of you perhaps noticed Peter2 has problem with posting.I think it is only matter of time it occurs again to another member. So I suggest to create Google Group and move our activity there.
I would be also much more convenient for me since I wouldn't have to delete messages in my pm inbox every moment Smile

Move to Google Groups Empty Re: Move to Google Groups

Peter2 has problems with posting? I didn't know that. I've always thougt that phpBB was a rather flawless forum system.

Well, moving to yet another forum would cause some inconvenience, since everyone would have to create an account again and we would need to move important forum threads over.
I haven't got any experience with google groups, but it seems to me, that only registered users (with google account) can access a group. I think it would be a good thing to have a public forum though.

If the forum admin can't figure out how to solve Peter2's problem and more problems occur, we may need to move. But I'd rather avoid that, since I haven't encountered any problem yet.

I also would like to avoid a move at this point. Right now it seems like an isolated incident on peter's part. If it comes to the point where another user can post and gets stuck at waiting, a clear error on the forums part, then I'd think we should move

Hard to say if the problem was on his side or on the side of the forum important is this could occur again and discourage any contributor from further work. From this point of view the move to Google Groups seems to me like a smaller evil since there is almost nothing which could go wrong (if it really works like mailing list) on both sides. And of course we could still maintain this forum.

No offence but that doesn't sound like a reson why to ignore this issue for me.It sounds rather like looking for excuses. You should realize these guys who wants to contribute doesn't have to but we need them to contribute.

Im not saying that we should ignore the fact that Peter2 wants to contribute but cant. Should we be looking at work-arounds? Definently. But if we change the main medium of communication every time a user runs into an error, we're going to be changing alot. Compatibility and user errors happen. I think the best way to go about that is to create secondary methods of communication for contributors.

It seems there was small misunderstanding.I really didn't say we should change communication method every time the user has some problem.I suggested to move to Google Groups because it is communication simple enough to have minimal probability of errors and it is our concern to be minimal on both sides.Second, as I wrote above in reply to Akkarin I don't expect we would leave this forum because someone might appreciate advantages of mailing list and the others would like to use forum. Also, I didn't suggest to use Google Groups only because Peter2 has problem with posting but it would be much more comfortable for me than pm since inbox size is really small.

Smile Sorry for inconvenience. It didn't occur to me it would happen.I've set prefered language to english and changed names of the tabs

EDIT: It seems it won't be so easy as I expected since default language settings is still czech. To get the english version you need to add "?hl=en" behind the group's url so the entire address is https://groups.google.com/group/might-and-magic-tribute?hl=en
